Biological Dentistry

Biological dentistry refers to holistic approaches in dentistry that emphasise natural healing and the use of biocompatible materials to promote oral health. As a rule, this also includes avoiding metals in the oral cavity.
In daily biological dentistry practice we use, for example, methods such as amalgam removal, biocompatible filling materials, holistic diagnostics and therapy approaches, and promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle. Ceramic implants and PRGF (autologous blood) are used in surgical treatment.
We avoid metal and foreign materials wherever possible. In biological dentistry, endodontics (root canal treatment) aims at the maximum disinfection of the tooth interior (pulp) with efficient yet gentle materials. We use exclusively biocompatible materials, for example biologically compatible silicate-based root filling materials and fillings without potentially allergenic gutta-percha (rubber). We reject the routine extraction of endodontically treated teeth. In individual cases this may still be the better option for the patient. An essential aspect is also the search for previously undetected inflammatory foci in the jaw area.
